The Third Man

The Third Man Rated PG  Rated 8y
The Third Man succeeds in practically everything. There isn't
the tiniest bit of bad acting from anybody. The plot is interesting, with lots of twists and turns. This murder mystery isn't only about getting to the bottom of the mystery, but also has a lot of funny jokes. The violence is not too scary at all. There are a few gunfights, but you don't see much. Once in a while you'll see a dead body, but all it is is a human lying on the ground, looking like a possum playing dead. As I said in the beginning, this movie does not fail at all, and rather than a To See, I'll give it a Can't Miss It: That is the answer.

  1. This might be my favorite movie. And here are some interesting bits of trivia (i) the hand through the sewer grate at the end of the movies isn't Orson Welles's but instead that of Carol Reed, the director (Welles had already left the set when that segment was filmed); (ii) you can go on a "Third Man" tour in Vienna today, and visit a lot of the places featured in the movie, and (iii) in the scene on the Tivoli ferris wheel, where Harry Lime talks about how the only thing invented by the Swiss was the cookoo clock, the dialog was supposedly ad-libbed by Welles. It may be true; it does not feature in the book by Graham Greene (which is a good read by the way).
