We Need to Talk About Kevin

We Need to Talk About Kevin  Rated R
We Need to Talk About Kevin is a psychological thriller about Eva Khatchadourian
(Tilda Swinton). She and her husband, Franklin (John C. Reilly) raise a child name Kevin (Rock Duer, Jasper Newell, andEzra Miller).  From the beginning you can clearly see problems with Kevin; he cries to much, he doesn't talk, he's extremely stubborn, etc. Eventually, things get worse. He turns out to be a very disturbed teenager, killing hamsters, making his sister blind in one eye, and, eventually, killing students at his school.

Never in the film do Franklin and Eva actually talk about Kevin, which I was waiting for. I was also waiting for something interesting and not just boring and straightforward. The acting (especially from Reilly) was superb, but the storyline? Not so much. There's obvious foreshadowing (Kevin playing violent video games) and stupid dialogue ("How could I not understand the context. I am the context."). Reilly is too nice, but Swinton is too mean, so I don't fully understand the parenting message. Also, the characters are majorly underdeveloped, especially Swinton's character. You never really know if she's a cruel parent or a great one. But the main problem I have with Kevin is: what's the point? Not to see: That is the answer.
