Apocalypse Now/Hearts of Darkness

Apocalypse Now  Rated R
Apocalypse Now is an excellent war film about Captain Willard (Martin Sheen). Captain
Willard just got back from war. He is in his hotel room, waiting for his next mission, which, as he eventually finds out, is to go into the woods and find Colonel Kurtz (Marlon Brando), a war veteran who went AWOL and hid out in the forest. He eventually made a tribe of a bunch of Vietnamese and went crazy, killing everyone he sees.

This film is very well acted and the plot is very interesting. It's exciting and fast-moving, and it's definitely worth the length. The acting is fantastic, especially from Marlon Brando, Robert Duvall and Dennis Hopper. Lawrence Fishburne, Martin Sheen, Frederic Forrest, and Sam Bottoms are all great in it too.

Apocalypse Now is very violent. There are images of dead men lying all over the ground, guts spilling out. There are decapitated heads and severed hands lying all over the place at one point. But all of the violence isn't nearly as bad as the cruelty. Robert Duvall plays a crazy guy who tears apart an innocent Vietnamese village in order to clear the way from surfing. You see Vietnamese citizens crying and screaming. There is also tons of swearing, but nothing gets any worse than the F word. To See: That is the answer.
The Great Scene (Warning: images of soldiers fighting in the backround, explosions, tons of napalm, but no blood):

There is another film called Hearts of Darkness, which is a great and interesting documentary made by Francis Ford Coppola's wife about the making of Apocalypse Now. There is a lot of bad language and some shots of blood, but other than that it's not too bad. To See: That is the answer.
